What a digital wedding invitation is
It's the classic invitation turned into a page that opens on the phone: the design, your names, the date, the venue, the schedule and, most usefully, a place for each guest to say whether they're coming. You send it by WhatsApp (or by email, or however you like) and there's nothing to print or hand out.
Compared with paper
- Price. In Spain, paper invitations cost between €250 and €600 for a wedding of 150 guests, according to the OCU, the Spanish consumers' association. The weddea one is free.
- The replies. With paper, the RSVP comes by phone, by WhatsApp or not at all. With a digital invitation, guests reply inside the invitation itself.
- Changes. If a time or the coach changes, the invitation updates itself for everyone; paper doesn't.
- What paper does better. It's a keepsake people hold on to, and grandparents love it. Many couples send the digital one to everyone and a few paper ones to older relatives.
How it works in weddea
- You choose a design from eight (a magazine cover, an envelope with a wax seal, Spanish tiles…) and make it yours: text, photos and the details of the day.
- You create a link for each guest, couple or family, from your list.
- You send it by WhatsApp from the app, with a message you can change.
- Each guest replies on their own link, step by step: whether they're coming, who with, allergies or dietary needs, the coach and anything else you want to ask. There's nothing to download and no account to create.
- The reply arrives on its own in your list, and you both see it straight away.
Not sure what deadline to give, or what to do about guests who don't reply? It's all in our guide to asking for RSVPs.
